How to Store Cloth Diapers

Hi everyone,

Happy February! Recently I have been collecting a lot of cloth diapers outside my normal stash for a new baby coming (one day). I have a pretty large collection going and can no longer leave it out for display in our nursery without our toddler thinking they are hers. I thought it was about time to store them away and keep them ready for a newborn. Take a look below to see how I store my cloth diapers.

Please keep in mind that this post includes affiliate links for Planet Wise. This means if you click a link through this post and purchase something, I will receive a small portion. Please note that the prices are same as if you were to purchase through the main sites.

How to Store Cloth Diapers:

1. Start with Clean Diapers

Mine are new so I can skip this step, but when you are coming to an end (or pause) of using your cloth diapers wash them as normal, with an extra rinse of HOT water. It is really important to be sure there is no soap left behind. Any soap left on can make the fabric and elastics weaker as they sit.

2. Dry Diapers

This is really important! Be sure to dry the shells and inserts well. You do not want any moisture left behind. No one wants to open up their beloved cloth diapers in 1-2 years to find they are moldy!

3. Use Air Flowing Container

The type of storage container is so crucial to keep your diapers maintained. It is important to have some airflow to the diapers so the elastic does not harden. I just discovered Planet Wise's Packing Cubes, and these work perfect! The top is mesh so you can see through and they also allow the diapers to breathe (sounds silly but they need to). You can also fit a lot in these! I think I packed up over 40 diapers and a ton of inserts. Love, love, love, them!

4. Store in Temperature Controlled Area

The last step is to find a place that is consistent in temperature. I slide my packing cubes right under my bed and they fit perfect. Somewhere like the garage, probably would not be the best choice. If the temperature becomes very hot or very cold, the elastics can wear out and even break. How sad would that be, to have a full set of diapers that need their elastics replaced?!

I am confident that when you follow these 4 easy steps, your diapers will be maintained, just the way you left them. :)

With Valentines Day just around the corner, Planet Wise wants share their love and giveaway a set of their Packing Cubes! See the full details on my Facebook page. Good luck!

XOXO
